Dawnmaker Mobile Beta Test Begins

Mai Trung Anh blog

If you’ve been following the indie strategy scene on PC, you might have caught wind of Dawnmaker earlier this year. Well, I have some great news for those of us who prefer playing on the go: the mobile port is officially on its way, and the testing phase has just begun.

Acram Digital Kicks Off Dawnmaker Mobile Beta Phase

Acram Digital has officially pulled the trigger on the mobile beta testing phase for Dawnmaker. If you aren’t familiar with Acram Digital, they are the folks who brought us excellent digital board game adaptations like Stone Age and Concordia Digital Edition, so my expectations for quality are pretty high here.

Developed by Arpentor Studio, this solo strategy title originally dropped on PC in 2024. Now, the publishers are bringing that experience to mobile devices. From what I’ve gathered, selected participants have already started receiving their invitations. These invites include everything needed to download the current build and jump straight into the opening campaign.

The main goal here is pretty standard but crucial: the developers are looking to use player feedback from this beta to smooth out any rough edges before the full commercial launch. It’s always reassuring to see a developer take the time to polish the touch controls and UI before asking players to pay up.

Mastering the Smog: Strategy, City-Building, and Deck Mechanics

The gameplay in Dawnmaker is honestly fascinating because it doesn’t stick to just one genre. Set on the gloomy continent of Heksiga, your job is to reclaim land that has been swallowed up by a toxic substance known as Smog. It feels a bit like a survival challenge where the environment is your biggest enemy.

The core loop revolves around reigniting ancient lighthouses. Once you light these up, you push back the Smog, which secures safe space for you to build. In my opinion, the coolest part is how the game synthesizes three distinct genres:

  • Turn-Based Strategy: You have to think several steps ahead.
  • City-Building: You need to expand your settlement efficiently.
  • Deck-Building: As your city grows, you unlock new cards.
  • Puzzle Mechanics: Spatial placement matters significantly.

I love it when games make card unlocks feel meaningful. Here, the new cards interact directly with the structures you’ve already built, which changes how efficiently you manage resources. It forces you to be strategic—you can’t just place tiles randomly. The map acts like a puzzle where spatial cohesion determines if you sink or swim.

You’ll be juggling agriculture, industry, and scientific progress, all while trying to produce a rare resource called Eclairium. On top of that, there is an exploration element where you recover lost technologies from the ruins of an old Empire. It adds a nice layer of lore to the resource grinding.

Dawnmaker Mobile Launch Date, Pricing, and Pre-Registration Info

If you didn’t get into the beta, you won’t have to wait long to play the full version. The mobile edition of Dawnmaker is scheduled for release on December 18th. It is launching as a premium title with a price point of $8.99.

Personally, I prefer premium pricing over aggressive microtransactions, so this price seems fair for a deep strategy game. If you want to get notified the second it drops, pre-registration is currently live on the Google Play Store.
